taste of odisha:

Odisha (Orissa), the land of Lord Jagannath, has a very rich religious culture and this is reflected in the food as well. Odia cuisine is very simple yet delicious, prepared in little or no oil which not only enhances the taste, but makes them very healthy as well. Here, you will find a mix of vegetarian and non- vegetarian dishes. Again people here loves eating sweets and may be this is the reason they themselves are so lovable. have a look at the variety of unique, authentic delicacies which can only be found in Odisha.

pakhala:

Pakhala or watered rice is one of the most favoured and widely-eaten dishes of Odisha, so much so that the state has a dedicated day for it — Pakhala DivasIt is basically cooked rice, washed or fermented in water — a staple among Odia families. Odia folks mostly live in a joint-family structure and rice is part of their staple diet. And, in order to reuse the excess/leftover rice, they soak it in water overnight and have it the next day in the form of delicious PakhalaThe rice is usually paired with items like burnt potato, tomato, or brinjal, fried fish or leaves, and an authentic Odia dish called Badi Chura.

pahala rasogola:

What you get in Pahala is a type of sponge Rosogolla with a milder sweetness and equally thin sugar syrup. What we in Bengal refer to as the Rosogolla are slightly hard textured with a coarse feeling as you bite into them. They will not squish if you try to bite into them and will retain its original shape. Last but not the least the consistency of the sugar syrup is different with a thicker variety and obvious more sweetness.

dahibara aludam:

Dahi bara, the iconic odia dish is a lip smacking Indian delicacy, which is widely popular in Odisha. It is a very common street food in different parts of India, so as aloo dum. But this combination is something which you can find only in Odisha. As an Odia, I am totally crazy about Dahibara Aloo dum because of its spicy and chatpata flavour. Also it remains a common sweet, sour, tangy & spicy, snack in every region. Here in Cuttack, Dahibara Aloodum is a way of life and no one can resist this savory temptation.
Dahibara aloodum is an all time favourite food of every Odia people. It serves excellent hunger satisfaction with a lot of delicious flavour. As it is a healthy food, it can be a chat patta and spicy breakfast and lunch for collegians as well as for others. Everyone loves to have this dish any time of the day.

chhena poda :

Chenna Poda is a sweet dish of Orissa which is scrumptious to eat. It has a crispy crust and juicy filling which make it’s every bite heavenly. This lip-smacking sweet with a distinct smoky flavor is Lord Jagganath's favourite and is among the "Chappan Bhog" offered at the Jagganath Puri temple. Chhena poda literally means roasted cheese in Odia. The recipe calls for use of homemade chhena (fresh paneer) along with sugar, cashew nuts and raisins, baked with caramelized sugar syrup until it browns.

manda pitha :

Manda pitha (Odiaମଣ୍ଡା ପିଠା) is a steamed pitha which is prepared in Odisha, India during festivals falling on monsoon and post-monsoon seasons like Manabasa Gurubara.name is derived from Odia word "Mandeiba" (Odiaମଣ୍ଡେଇବା) means "to place" or "to put" or "to dump" it also suggests the action of putting rice bowl into the warm water "Mandeiba" to Manda peetha. The outer covering consists of steamed rice flour and inner filling is of coconut, jaggery, black pepper and Chhena.
